Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe 2018 (Capcom Store Tokyo 2019)

In this post, I’ll share about about my super fun visit to the Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe collaboration back in 2018.

Note: As I play the games in English, I’m most familiar with their English translated names so all references to the game and its characters in this post will be using their English counterparts.

UPDATE MAY 2021: There’s going to be another Ace Attorney Collaboration Cafe!! And it’s a summer theme too!! And almost all the attorneys & lawyers of the Part 1 to Part 6 are featured! (Why am I not in Japan?) From  May 21, 2021 (Friday) to July 8, 2021 (Thursday), the collaboration will be held at the the Capcom Cafe at Aeon Lake Town Mall (Japan). UPDATE DECEMBER 2020: Yay! Capcom has just announced that they will be having another Ace Attorney Collaboration Cafe at the Ikebukuro branch from December 24 2020 to February 11 2021! And it’s a ROYAL THEME! ^ ^ I will update more information at the “Sneak Peek at the December 2020 Ace Attorney Cafe” section here once Capcom releases more details about this campaign.

UPDATE JUNE 2020: There’s going to be a new Ace Attorney x Capcom Cafe in 2020! From July 16 2020 to August 19 2020, the Capcom Cafe at Aeon Lake Town Mall (Japan) will be having the Ace Attorney series collaboration. This means that this time round we get to see Apollo and Klavier as well!! Seeing how much fun I had at the last two Ace Attorney Cafes, I’m pretty sure the upcoming one will be pretty awesome as well!

UPDATE 2019: Good news! Capcom Cafe has opened up another branch in Ikebukuro from July 2019!! This is the second Capcom Cafe in Tokyo Kanto Area. A Capcom Store will also be opened in Shibuya in late November 2019. For more information, scroll to the end of the post.

Like Animate Cafes, the Capcom Cafe has many different game/anime collaboration campaigns in a year.

So always look out for their announcements on social media to see when the next Ace Attorney cafe is!

Yes, this is the much delayed and long-awaited (?) post on my visit to the Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe in 2018!!

This was actually only my second visit to the Capcom Cafe and also my second Ace Attorney Cafe experience ever. ^^

I had so much fun back in the 2017 Ace Attorney x Capcom Cafe collaboration that I JUST had to go for another visit in 2018! You can read about my 2017 visit here.  In that post, I’ve included directions and a guide on how to travel to the flagship branch of the cafe as well. 

And in 2020, Capcom gave us a piece of great news! Capcom has partnered with Parco to sell some of its Capcom Cafe goods on its web-store! Check out the Parco-Capcom Webstore section for more details!

Okay, that’s enough rambling from me. Let’s move on to the real reason why you are here, shall we?

Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe 2018

Back in 2018, the second branch of Capcom Cafe wasn’t launched yet so all the collaboration campaigns were still held at its flagship branch at Aeon Lake Mall.

The Capcom Cafe at Aeon Lake Town Mall is extremely recognizable from a distance. ^ ^ 

As the collaboration campaign cafe was to celebrate the start of Season 2 of the anime, Godot was naturally the focus of the collaboration.

The 2018 themed menu and cafe design had added elements of Godot and his favorite courtroom weapon beverage: coffee! Look at how cute the cardboard standees of Phoenix and Godot are. I also love how they laid out the pink tapes on the floor like at an investigation crime scene!

For those who had read about my 2017 visit (thank you!), I mentioned how Capcom Cafe required no reservations and I basically just did a walk-in.

UPDATE: Capcom Cafe has now implemented an easy reservation system (free) on their website . They do allow walk-ins too, just that priority will be given to those who made reservations.

Ace Attorney Food & Drinks

For my 2018 visit, I kind of went a little crazy. I might have, sort-of, definitely ordered waaay too much food and drinks. Oops. (⌒_⌒;) I vaguely remembered the staff giving me little sideway glances as they were delivering my orders to the table haha.

Although you can’t really blame me for being greedy because look at these fabulous Ace Attorney themed food and drinks! (⊙_⊙) How could I have just ONLY ordered 1 item?!

My Mains —

For my mains, I went with the (loosely translated) Miles Edgeworth Elegant Muffin Plate at 1380 yen (before tax). You’ll get a free paper lunch mat with a main or dessert too.

Interestingly, they marketed this dish as a nutritious balanced meal that even Miles Edgeworth will enjoy. Looking at the ingredients used, it sure does seem like something he would eat, what with his proper and polite mannerisms that we all love about him. (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

But OMG! (⊙_⊙) The Miles Edgeworth’s English muffin was DELICIOUS!! Soft, fluffy and tasty, I’m so glad I chose this over Phoenix’s Apple Gratin (check the menu section for details). I really enjoyed eating the English muffin.  It was sooooooo good.

I had a lot of fun playing with Miles’ hair piece too. ^^ No photos because I’m shy hahahaha

My Drinks —

The drinks were equally good as well. I was pleasantly surprised because I didn’t really like the Phoenix Wright drink I had back in 2017, even though it was pretty to look at. ╮( ˘ ､ ˘ )╭ Am not a big fan of syrup infused drinks.

However, the Pearl Fey themed drink for the 2018 cafe was excellent. I really liked it (not having syrup in it was a bonus).  It was also really pretty. Priced at 800 yen (before tax), the drink contains Acai + Yoghurt + chewy mochi balls + Oreo + Pretzel.  The purple hue of the drink is likely a shout-out to the color of Pearl’s robes.

As with most anime/game theme cafes, you’ll get a bonus novelty item with each drink order. For the Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe 2018, it was coasters. And…. I got Maya for my Pearl Fey themed drink! ＼(＾▽＾)／

And because one drink is never enough, I ordered two more drinks well. Three is definitely not a crowd when it comes to beverages! ^ ^

The Pink colored drink with the Ryu Marshmallow on the left was naturally Phoenix’s themed drink (800 yen before tax).  So, I just had to order it. I mean look at the name of the drink: 恋は盲目！？成歩堂龍一ドリンク（大学時代Ver.）Loosely translated as: Love is Blind!? Naryuudo Ryuichi Drink (Phoenix Wright) University’s version drink.

With a name like that, how could any fan resist? (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

Anyway, the pink hue of the drink was obviously a reference to Phoenix’s pink sweater in the game/anime.  It consists of strawberry syrup + yoghurt + berry and topped off with a printed marshmallow. It tasted pretty good actually, despite my aversion to syrup drinks.

And my random coaster for the drink was Phoenix! ＼(＾▽＾)／ How about that? I mean, what are the odds on getting the same character coaster with their themed drinks? Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe novelty items are randomly given out, face-down, on the table with your drinks.

The drink on the right with the wafer is Godot’s themed drink (800 yen before tax): エスプレッソ薫る神乃木荘龍ドリンク. Loosely translated as: Espresso Godot’s drink. The drink was actually a combination of espresso + blood orange juice and topped off with 2 chocolate wafers. Despite the seemingly weird combination, it’s not bad. I enjoyed the drink.  

My random coaster for the drink was Miles Edgeworth (ღ˘⌣˘ღ) I’m really happy because the coasters that I really wanted was Miles and Phoenix (didn’t manage to get them in my last visit). And it would have been a little sad for me if I just had the Phoenix coaster from earlier. I mean how can you just have one without the other? Phoenix and Miles are the stuff of legends and we all know they belong together. ♡＼(￣▽￣)／♡ E’nuff said.

The small Phoenix and Miles plushies you see in many of the photos here are my own and I brought it specially to the cafe for photos. Aren’t they cute?

I always encourage fans to bring some of their plushies or figurines along for their cafe visit because it makes the photos that much more fun to take!

And yes, these were the plushies I had caught at the crane game machine during my visit to the Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe in 2017. ＼(＾▽＾)／ So it’s like a reunion for them too!

Oh, did you notice the Godot Acrylic Beverage Stirrer that was with my Godot drink? Well the drink stirrers were goods sold exclusively at the Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe. You can ONLY buy these stirrers if you ordered DRINKS at the cafe.  It is not available at the goods/merchandise section. They had four designs in all (Miles, Phoenix, Maya and Godot) Each cost 800 yen (before tax). So naturally, I bought Godot, Miles and Phoenix. Sorry Maya. Was on a budget.

My Desserts —

I was really looking forward to the desserts because I had a lot of fun with the Miles Edgeworth pancakes back at the 2017 cafe. And boy was I NOT disappointed. ＼(＾▽＾)／

My choice of dessert (there were two to choose from) was as delicious as it was fun to play with. Yes, I meant what I said. This was definitely a dessert that you can express your CREATIVITY and LOVE for the Ace Attorney games! (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

I ordered the (loosely translated) Feelings ~ Dining Message Sweets dessert plate.

What I loved about the dessert plate (1280 yen before tax) was that you get to draw and/or write your own message using the chocolate pen provided. They were also having a campaign that if you took a photo of your creation and tag Capcom Cafe on twitter, you’ll get a bonus free Ace Attorney postcard!

Using the chocolate pen wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be though so I just opted for a simple message. I’ve seen photos of other fans creating fabulous drawings of Phoenix, Miles and Godot using the chocolate pen. They look amazing!

But I think I did a pretty decent job with mine; don’t you think? (´｡• ᵕ •｡`)

There were a total of 3 designs for the bonus post-cards; Phoenix, Miles and Godot. You get to choose which character’s postcard to receive if you participated in the campaign. Check out the menu section for the images of the other 2 post cards.

As per the 2017 Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe, every diner will also get a free paper lunch mat, if you ordered a main/dessert, you can bring home.

Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe Menu

There were so many dishes and drinks I wanted to order but alas there was only one of me and it was the last day of trip, so I couldn’t. I did try though, with 1 main, 1 dessert and 3 drinks.

But now with a branch in Ikebukuro, it means I can do repeat visits to the cafe when I travel to Tokyo! I generally like to stay in Ikebukuro for obvious reasons. (´｡• ᵕ •｡`)

Here’s a look at the 2018 Capcom Cafe Ace Attorney Menu: Apologies for the blurred photos in advance.

Capcom Cafe also has what it calls a Classic Menu which might be available sometimes with its current campaign collaboration menu. The classic menu tends to feature some of its mainstay food and drink from its library of games.

Next, remember the bonus postcard for my dessert? Well, here’s a close-up of all the possible designs. I had a hard time choosing but I ended up choosing Miles Edgeworth.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The food at the Capcom Cafe is really pretty good. Among the many anime/game themed cafes I’ve been too, both the Detective Conan Cafe (click on the link to find out more) and the Capcom Cafe consistently exceeds my expectations for anime themed food and drinks.

I highly recommend fans of both series to visit their official cafes whenever possible. ＼(＾▽＾)／

Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe Decor

One aspect that I love about anime/game themed cafes in Japan is the thought that goes into the decoration of the cafe. Capcom Cafe is no exception.

For the Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe 2018, there were quite a few things you could take photos of. Although the set-up was largely similar to the 2017 one that I went too, I still could find some surprises during this visit. ٩(｡•́‿•̀｡)۶

Did you see the plushie chandelier hanging on top of the cashier counter? How cute is that?! Here’s a close-up shot:

Oh and I finally got to sit at the table I wanted to but couldn’t during my 2017 visit. ＼(＾▽＾)／

Yup, it’s the table with the Ace Attorney framed drawings and the weighing scales (of justice) of plushies. Can you guess where my seat was? Hint: It’s the one with the two small Phoenix & Miles plushies!

Next, here’s a close-up of all the framed pictures of the Ace Attorney characters on the table I was at. Aren’t they amazing? (ღ˘⌣˘ღ) I would love to get one of the drawings but they were not for sale. Although… even if they were, I’m pretty sure it is super expensive and waay out of my budget. From my visits to official exhibitions, many of the original official replica framed drawings are in the range of 35 000 yen to 60 000 yen! (⊙_⊙)

They had this back when I visited in 2017 too! As you can see, I only have the Miles and Phoenix small plushies from the entire collection.

Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe Goods

If you have been following my blog, you’ll know that one of the things I love about anime/game themed cafes are the exclusive goods you can buy when you are there. 

In 2017, I bought the Godot Coffee Mug which was really cool. And no, I did not splash coffee at my co-workers. (¬‿¬ )

In 2018, the star product of the Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe has to be the Eau De Toilette (lightly scented cologne) of our favorite Defense Lawyers and Prosecutors! ٩(◕‿◕)۶

Yes, you read that right! For the 2018 Capcom Cafe collaboration, they were selling cologne for Phoenix, Miles, Apollo and Klavier!!

These 25ml Eau De Toilette bottles retailed at 4800 yen (before tax) each. According to the descriptions, these are the scents of the characters:

They actually also had a Godot Eau De Toilette as well. Unfortunately, they did not display a sample so I was so I was unable to take a photo of the actual product.

Great News! Capcom has recently released a mini-version of all the 5 types of toilette/cologne in sets of 10ml bottles each. You can buy them at the pop-up Capcom Store Tokyo.

Capcom split the bottles up into the Prosecutor Perfume Set (Miles, Godot, Klavier) and the Lawyers Perfume Set (Phoenix and Apollo). They are priced at 5800 yen (before tax) for the Prosecutor set and 4200 (before tax) for the Lawyer set. You can also buy the mini- perfume set of Devil May Cry too! (Dante!!! *swoon*). Sneak Peek at the May 2021 Ace Attorney x Capcom Cafe (Flagship Store)

OMG! Look at how nice they look in their yukatas! (And Miles, really? LOL) I really, really want to go for the cafe but global travel hasn’t safely resumed yet, so looks like its impossible. I’m hoping that the online Capcom Store might stock some of the cafe goods.

New: Seems that the 2021 Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe is bringing back the SNS (e.g. twitter/Instagram) special coaster present campaign!

• Step 1: Take a photo with the standees at the cafe
• Step 2: Upload the photo on your SNS with the hashtag “カプコンカフェで夏祭り”
• Step 3: Show the upload and shared status of the photo to the cafe staff
• Step 4: Receive a random special coaster!

Oh and Capcom Cafe shared some photos of their Ace Attorney 2021 Collaboration on their twitter here. What makes the 2021 collaboration even more special is that for every 3000 yen spent on food/drinks/sweets (desserts), you’ll get a bonus postcard! And this is on top of the free coaster you get with every drink order!

On a related note, I am so stoked that they FINALLY are releasing an English version of 大逆転裁判1＆2　-成歩堂龍ノ介の冒險と覺悟-!! Gonna pre-order the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. ^ ^ I hope it’s like the original Ace Attorney Trilogy version where I could switch between English and Japanese, with Japanese Audio and EL text.

Sneak Peek at the December 2020 Ace Attorney x Capcom Cafe Ikebukuro

There’s currently not much information released about this upcoming collaboration but I believe it should be the first Ace Attorney Collaboration held at the Ikebukuro branch. ^ ^ I would love to visit it but alas, travel is still not possible now.

Sneak Peek at the July 2020 Ace Attorney x Capcom Cafe

Capcom Cafe has announced that they will be having another Ace Attorney themed cafe in 2020!! And this time round, it’s on the whole series… meaning we get to see Apollo and Klavier as well!(≧◡≦) ♡

Unfortunately, due to the current travel situation across the globe, I won’t be able to fly to Japan for this cafe collaboration. Perhaps some of you could share with me your experience if you plan to visit the cafe?

Menu

2020’s menu certainly looks rather interesting. Really different from the 2017 and 2018 menu.

For my “first visit” I probably would have ordered Klavier’s Love Love Guilty Sweet Brioche; Miles Edgeworth’s tea-time sweet plate (the cakes looks delicious) and Godot’s Cafe Style Affogato. Godot cos… omg, I really think it would be fun photographing the drink/dessert hahaha. My order might be a little too much for 1 pax to finish though. ^ ^

If there was a “second visit”, I’m likely to order Apollo’s drink because it actually sounds pretty delicious: Chocolate Cookies + Strawberry Syrup + Blood Orange + Calpis +Chocolate Ice Cream. Miles’s Red Tea Strawberry drink too because it looks sooo pretty on the menu. I would probably get the Judge’s Gavel (hammer) +Apollo set simply because it looks fun. Thereafter, if I have room for desserts, Maaya’s dessert set. It looks quite delicious actually.

Great news! Now us overseas fans have an opportunity to get our hands on some of the Capcom cafe goods! Capcom Store Tokyo

Are you a fan of Ace Attorney/Capcom games? Well, although there wasn’t an Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe in 2019, you can still get your hands on some of the exclusive (Ace Attorney) Capcom Cafe goods if you are in Tokyo from 22 November 2019 onwards!

Capcom has announced that there will be a pop-up Capcom Store Tokyo selling some of their previous cafe collaboration items (including Ace Attorney).  ٩(｡•́‿•̀｡)۶

The 5^th edition pop-up (looks like it will be a regular thing) is located at the 6^th Floor of Shibuya Parco Shopping Mall from 22 November onward. No indication when it will end though. And they are selling the small bottle (10ml) versions of the Ace Attorney perfumes! (See the section on Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe Goods for more information.)
