Ace Attorney X Capcom Cafe
**Please note that the information in this post largely refers to 2017 Ace Attorney x Capcom Cafe Collaboration. This post is updated in December 2020 with new information and broken links have been fixed. The layout has also been changed from the original 2017 post to allow for easier reading.**
Note: As I play the games in English, I’m most familiar with their English translated names so all references to the game and its characters in this post will be using their English counterparts.
Ace Attorney/ Gyakuten Saiban (逆転裁判) 2017 has ended.
However, the new campaign Dai Gyakuten Saiban (大逆転裁判) has started on 13 July and will be ongoing till 9 August 2017!
UPDATE MAY 2021:
Yay! Capcom has announced that there will be another Ace Attorney x Capcom Cafe collaboration in 2021! From May 21, 2021 (Friday) to July 8, 2021 (Thursday), the collaboration will be held at the the Capcom Cafe at Aeon Lake Town Mall (Japan). The theme for this collaboration is SUMMER! ^ ^ I must say, they all look so good in their yukatas.

There’s going to be yet another new Ace Attorney x Capcom Cafe in 2020!
As fans were aware, Capcom Cafe already held a Ace Attorney Collaboration Cafe from July 16 2020 to August 19 2020. That campaign included … wait for it… our favourite S4 & S5 duo: Apollo and Klavier!!
However, to our delight, Capcom has announced that there will be another Ace Attorney Cafe Collaboration from December 24 2020 to February 11 2021! And it’s a Royal Theme with Gadot in the mix! ^ ^
Seeing how much fun I had at the last two Ace Attorney Cafes, I’m pretty sure the upcoming one will be pretty awesome as well! Check out the section on “Sneak Peeks at Upcoming Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe” for more information.

Introduction
OBJECTION!
A few days before I was to fly off to Japan for my solo trip in June, I was checking out some of the anime & manga news online when I found out that there was going to be an Ace Attorney themed café in Tokyo by Capcom Café during my travel dates!
OMG! I love the Ace Attorney games. So even though the café was housed in a place/mall I have never been to in Japan, for my beloved lawyers and prosecutors, I decided that I just HAD to go, even if it means travelling about 1 hour via train from my hotel in Ikebukuro to the café and changing my travel plans slightly.
And it was indeed worth the travel! I had sooooo much fun at the café. ^ ^
Directions to the Capcom Cafe
(Aeon Lake Town Mall)
Capcom Café (Tokyo) is located at Aeon Laketown. This is a huge sized (eco-friendly) shopping center with two distinctive shopping and amusement zones, Kaze and Mori as described on their official website. If you are familiar with the concept of factory outlets, there are also some outlet shops at the mall which have massive discounts on their merchandises (usually for past seasons items).
It has its own train station stop (Koshigoya-Laketown) so you can easily locate it on the JR East train map.
As I walked nearer to the entrance of the mall, I spotted another anime themed café.
Wow~ I didn’t know that Osomatsusan had a collaboration with Sanrio! However as I had already set my heart on the Ace Attorney café, I had to give this a miss.
Capcom Cafe
As I wasn’t sure how crowded the Ace Attorney x Capcom cafe might be, I resisted all shopping temptations (so many fashion shops offering discounts!) in the mall and headed straight to the cafe where I was greeted by this glorious sight!
I’ve played a lot of video games (console) when I was a kid so many of the classic Capcom titles are not strangers to me, especially Street Fighter and Devil May Cry!! So naturally, even before stepping into the actual dining area of the café, I got sidetracked by all the merchandise & decorations and started taking photos shopping taking photos at the merchandise corner. (I think some weird looks were directed to me too but oh well 😊 ).
The merchandise area is separated from the dining area so there is no time restrictions (until the shop closes for the day of-course) for you to dine and shop unlike other Anime themed cafés.
Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe Merchandise
I really liked how they displayed some of the Ace Attorney merchandises and surrounded them with character-cutouts arranged in very strategically positions. (≧◡≦) ♡ They were totally NOT subtle with what they were going with. All i can is they really understand the Ace Attorney fandom well haha. Look at the evidence below 🙂
For more information on the exclusive Ace Attorney X Capcom Café goods, you can visit their webpage here. With each new collaboration, there is a likelihood that some of the goods associated with the previous collaboration might be sold out or replaced with newer character goods.

Do note that as the current campaign is Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2 (大逆転裁判 2), some of the Ace Attorney merchandises might be sold out or replaced with Dai Gyakuten Saiban’s character goods.
I would love to get EVERYTHING but as I’ve already pre-ordered a bunch of Ace Attorney 15th Anniversary stuff from Movic prior to my Japan trip (check out my instagram for pictures), I had to make hard choices and settled with these instead.
Another reason why I resisted getting more Ace Attorney merchandises at the café was because of the capsule machines.
These are exclusive to Capcom Cafe and you can only get it at the café merchandise shop. (Well, technically you might find it much later at some shops in Akihabara and Nakano Broadway but that’s a post for another day).
I was really hoping to get the Phoenix & Miles designs for the badges and acrylic key-holders. And I got most of them! ^ ^
Oh and if you have a Capcom stamp card, I think they currently have a campaign where buying xx amount of merchandises from their merchandise corner can give you some stamps which you can use to redeem some rewards via the café. (E.g. ½ price off a drink)
Since the latest game in the franchise series is the upcoming Dai Gyakuten Saiban 2 (大逆転裁判 2 -成歩堂龍ノ介の冒險), there were quite a few promotional displays for the game. Most notably:
Finally… after all that hard work, it’s time to enter the dining area of the café!
Inside the Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe
I went on a Friday afternoon and the café was pretty empty. Although closer to 5.30pm, more customers came in. No reservations are needed. You can simply just walk-in. So just pick a weekday and an off-peak timing and I’m pretty sure you will have no problem finding a table. However, it’s going to be summer holidays now (July) for the Japanese so it might get crowded even on weekdays. Update 2018: Do note that Capcom Cafe has introduced a Reservation System . Reservations are free so it is advisable that you do a reservation online before heading down to the cafe.
Now for the FOOD!
Omg! How cute is this? Honestly, it really tasted pretty good. (This trip has really lifted some of my reservations on the quality of food found in anime themed cafés.)
My random coaster is Sherlock Holmes! ^ ^ (Every drink order gets a free random coaster) The drink was okay. Pretty to look at but I’m not a big fan of syrup infused drinks. Apple slice was sweet and yummy though.
And for dessert (don’t judge me!):
The portion wasn’t very big but it is pretty delicious. The pancakes were soft and fluffy and I love the jam. The strawberries were nice too. Oh and I just couldn’t resist playing around with the Miles pancakes too hahaha so you get this:
There were other items on the menu as well. Capcom Café has this pretty good deal that if you order a main, a drink and a dessert at the same time, you can order a set priced at 2980 yen which is slightly cheaper then if you order the items separately. For example, I saved about 200 yen using this deal. The total for my order would have been 3180 yen otherwise. (Do note that some food items are not included in the set. It will be indicated in the menu). UPDATE 2019: This deal wasn’t available in the 2018 Cafe Collaboration.
However if your aim is to get the random coasters, then just order as many drinks as you can (which is what most of the Japanese customers do). o(≧▽≦)o
Cafe Decor
Since it was Ace Attorney themed, they had a main table in the center of the dining area with Ace Attorney pictures and memorabilia, as well some standees 🙂
Throughout the day, the TV inside the cafe would be playing all the commercials of every Ace Attorney & Dai Gyakuten Saiben games on a loop.
I wanted to sit at the main table with all the awesome Ace Attorney displays but I think the staff will always strongly recommend you to sit at the booth tables if there are other tables available. (There was someone who asked but she was gently rejected.) Update: During my 2018 visit to the cafe, I managed to sit at the main table! o(≧▽≦)o
Look at how cute these mini plushies are!! Alas these weren’t on sale as they were actually crane game prizes. Although I still managed to get Wright and Edgeworth in the end. Read on further to find out how! 🙂

Crane Game Machine
There were two crane game machines just in front of the payment counter. So I JUST had to try getting some of the mini Ace Attorney plushies. (So what if I’ve already have both the bigger plushies of Phoenix & Miles at home, there’s always room for MORE plushies 😛)
And with that, my first Ace Attorney Café experience is complete! 🙂

Parco-Capcom Web-Store
Great news! Now us overseas fans have an opportunity to get our hands on some of the Capcom cafe goods! As mentioned, Capcom Store Tokyo has partnered with Parco to sell their goods on their platform. Access the webstore here! And yes there are some (not all) of the past Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe goods! ^ ^

In Conclusion…
Ace Attorney x Capcom Café was a fuss-free and fun experience for me. I had a lot of fun taking photos and enjoying the food.(≧◡≦) So if you are a fan of the series, I highly recommend a visit if you are in Tokyo!
Another plus point is that due to its location in a huge shopping mall, even if your travel companions are not interested in anything related to anime/games, they would be able to chill out at one of the many café/restaurants in the mall or go shopping while you geek out @ the Capcom Café. (There is also a huge Village Vanguard shop just next to the café.) They also sell other Capcom titles merchandises as well.
Moreover, it’s one of those walk-ins cafes which requires no pre-balloting of tickets or any complicated reservation system. (Update: For the 2018 cafe, they introduced a reservation system.) So why not check out Capcom Café during your travels in Tokyo?
Just do a quick check on their official website to see what the campaign theme is during your travel period. You can also check out their twitter account to see if the cafe is crowded for the day too. (They typically will post an update if the café is full.)
As mentioned, Ace Attorney’s campaign for 2017 has ended. Update 2020: A new Ace Attorney x Capcom Cafe collaboration has been announced for July 2020! Check out the section on”Sneak Peeks at Upcoming Ace Attorney Capcom Cafe” for more information.

I was fortunate enough to visit the Ace Attorney themed cafe in 2018 as well. To celebrate the start of Season 2 of the anime, Capcom held another Ace Attorney campaign from 20 September 2018 to 7 November 2018!

Can you believe that Capcom has given us not one but TWO Ace Attorney Collaboration Cafes in 2020?! From December 24 2020 to February 11 2021, the Ikebukuro branch of Capcom Cafe will be having its second Ace Attorney cafe of the year and it’s a ROYAL THEME! ^ ^ I will update more information at the “Sneak Peek at the December 2020 Ace Attorney Cafe ” in my 2018 visit post when more details are released.

From May 21, 2021 (Friday) to July 8, 2021 (Thursday), the collaboration will be held at the the Capcom Cafe at Aeon Lake Town Mall (Japan). OMG! They all look so nice in their yukatas! And did you notice Miles and Phoenix are wearing matching clogs?? ^ ^ I will be sharing more information once Capcom releases them to us.
Unfortunately, due to the current travel situation across the globe, I won’t be able to fly to Japan for this cafe collaboration as well. Perhaps some of you could share with me your experience if you plan to visit the cafe?
On a related note, I am so stoked that they FINALLY are releasing an English version of 大逆転裁判1＆2-成歩堂龍ノ介の冒險と覺悟-!! Gonna pre-order the Great Ace Attorney Chronicles. ^ ^ I hope it’s like the original Ace Attorney Trilogy version where I could switch between English and Japanese, with Japanese Audio and EL text.
