Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba (鬼滅の刃) x Ufotable Cafe
Today, I’ll be sharing about my super fun visit to the Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba ufotable cafe in Japan back in May 2019.
** This cafe collaboration campaign has ended. However, there’s a new thematic cafe campaign collaboration ongoing in 2022.
New: This post has been updated in August 2020. Removed & updated several broken links and outdated information. Added some new content for the various 2020 ufotable cafe collaboration. ^ ^
December 2021 Updates:

WHAT IS DEMON SLAYER: KIMETSU NO YAIBA?
In a nutshell, Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba is about a very kind-hearted boy’s (Tanjirou Kamado) quest to find a way to turn his younger sister, Nezuko, back into a human. Nezuko was exposed to demon blood after the massacre of their family and although she “survived”, she unfortunately became a demon as well. As such, Tanjirou joined the Demon Slayers Corps in a bid to avenge his family and to find a way to save his sister, meeting comrades, friends and enemies along the way.

If you are a fan of GIFs, take note! In August 2019, the anime production team has created a series of really high quality and free GIFs of the anime which you can find on GIFMAGAZINE’s website here (Have fun with them! I did. ) Spoilers abound for the anime episodes of course, so do take note before visiting the website.
Have you guys/gals heard the news? Ufotable have announced that they will be producing a special movie version of the Infinity Train Arc! 劇場版「#鬼滅の刃」無限列車編 改め、制作決定です
Check out the official twitter account for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba for more updates! Personally I hope it will be S1 – Movie – S2 but so far there have been no updates from the anime team. Let’s all hope there will be an announcement for S2 soon! And the movie is upon us!! Who’s watching/watched it?
INSIDE THE KIMETSU NO YAIBA CAFE
To celebrate the start of the anime adaptation, Ufotable launched a Kimetsu no Yaiba cafe collaboration for the anime!
Prior to watching the anime, I had no idea that studio Ufotable actually has its own cafe! How neat is that? There are currently 5 branches you can visit: Tokyo, Osaka, Nagoya, Tokushima, Kitakyushu. (The information and address of the Tokyo and Osaka branches are at the end of the post.)
Seeing how I’ve gotten lost to two cafes in Tokyo already in this trip (yes...I know), I decided to head to the Osaka branch which looks somewhat easier to find on the map than the Tokyo branch. Anyhow, for the reasons above, I settled on visiting the Osaka Branch of the Kimetsu no Yaiba Ufotable cafe which turned out great. ^ ^ Because even if I had still gotten a tad lost finding it, I stopped to take a breather at one of the crane game centers and caught a LAPRAS!!!!
Note: The cafe in Tokyo has a ticketed system and special rules to abide to. Refer to the Tokyo Cafe rules section for information.
Interestingly, for the Osaka branch, it is actually a combination of 2 cafes: Ufotable Cafe & マチ★アソビcafe. So half of the cafe space was devoted to Kimetsu no Yaiba and the other was for another anime series.
Right in the middle of the joint cafe space was this display so you have no doubt what the current main event was. ^ ^
As I stepped into the cafe at around 8pm, the staff very kindly informed me that they were only serving the anime-themed menu for the whole of June. As this was the main reason why I visited the cafe, I was perfectly fine with it.
Perhaps due to the late timing and the fact that it was raining the entire day, the cafe was relatively empty when I visited and I could have my pick of the tables. (Free seating!)
UPDATE 2020: Due to the current global pandemic situation in 2020, ufotable has introduced new rules for its cafes and ticketed systems will be needed for more of its branches.
September 2019 Update: The Osaka branch has announced on twitter that for certain weeks, it will implement a ticketed system.
I finally chose a seat at the counter. In hindsight, although it puts me closer to the action (a.k.a the kitchen?), the lighting wasn’t exactly ideal for taking photos. My photos turned out a tad grimy. Oh well~ It was still fun sitting between Zenitsu and Inosuke’s faces.
ONWARD TO THE MENU
Prior to visiting the Kimetsu no Yaiba ufotable cafe, I decided that I would just get a drink or two, and maybe a dessert. I already had my dinner and was, to be honest, pretty stuffed at that point.
The drinks/desserts turned out pretty delicious though so I’m pretty sure the quality of the food is not bad. If I ever visit the Ufotable cafes again (which I plan to!), I’ll definitely order some food items to try.
As with most anime cafes, at the Ufotable Cafe you’ll get a coaster with a drink. A place-mat/lunch-mat is given with each order of dessert/food item.
This is the menu for Part 1 of the cafe. Currently, they are offering new menu items to coincide with new episodes of the anime. (Again how neat is that?)
One important thing to note is that unlike the other cafes like Animate Cafe, you have no idea what your menu item looks like. I tried looking for it via their website but alas, they never show any photos of it.
Maybe they actually shared it via their twitter account? I was too lazy to search through all the posts for it though haha.
So do what I do, pick one and just be in for a pleasant surprise?
During my May 2019 visit, there was an interesting sunset campaign where you can only order the “demon” themed dessert and/or drink after sunset. (On the day of my visit, it was 7.03pm.) As the demons in the series are largely vulnerable to sunlight, most of the demons can only be out in public after sunset. The cafe will announce on twitter what time sunset will be.
What I really like about the Ufotable cafe is that the coasters for the drinks are not random. If you ordered a character drink, you’ll get the corresponding coaster attached to the drink as seen in the menu.
The coaster is also of a slightly thicker material than those of Animate and Adores/Anime Plaza Cafe. The lunch-mats are still random though. You can see the designs offered in the menu as well.
DRINKS & DESSERTS: MY ORDERS
My first order was really a no-brainer. I just had to order Tanjirou’s drink because he’s really such a great and kind big brother. (The acrylic figure stand is not included with the drink. I bought it from the merchandise corner.)
What was interesting about Kimetsu no Yaiba x Ufotable Cafe was that they explained about why they chose certain drinks to represent the characters. This can be found written in the drink menu. (refer to the earlier drink menu photo).
For example, coffee was chosen as the drink to represent Tanjirou.
My translation might be a tad off but from what I could understand from the text, they felt that the bittersweet taste of coffee best represents the essence of Tanjirou. A kind-hearted boy who, while caught up in the anguish and rage of what befell his family, still manages to display kindness, compassion and empathy towards others, including his enemies. So, a mix of bitterness and sweetness? The raspberry sauce and chocolate cream(?) were added as reference to his pink scar on his forehead.
If you were wondering why there was only one coaster in this photo, that’s because the glass on the right is actually a dessert menu item and not a drink! (It was surprisingly yummy and not overtly sweet as it looks.)
As I really wanted a lunch-mat, I decided to order a dessert as well. I actually had a pretty tough time choosing between the desserts (yes I know there were only 3 choices but still…) because as much as I wanted to, I knew I couldn’t finish if I ordered all of them.
After trying to picture what the desserts look like (which turned out nothing like I thought it would be), I went with 水の呼吸.
水の呼吸 or what I translated it as “Breath of Water”, is actually a reference to Tanjirou’s sword-style technique. It is a parfait consisting of White Peaches + Clear Warabi Mochi + Blue Jelly with ice sugar.
For a visual example of how awesome the Breath of Water technique is, check out this free GIF by Kimetsu no Yaiba x GIFMAGAZINE by clicking the button below.
It seems that they were using the parfait to represent the flows and forms of water? Perhaps someone with a better grasp of the Japanese language can update on this. Anyway, this was actually really good and wasn’t as sweet as I thought it would be. I was even tempted to order another one! Alas, I didn’t, but I just had to display it with Giyu’s acrylic stand that I also bought at the cafe merchandise corner.
Note: Tomioka Giyū (冨岡 義勇) is the current Water Pillar and as such uses the same Breath of Water techniques as Tanjirou.
For a visual example of why he’s the current Water Pillar, check out this free GIF from Kimetsu no Yaiba x GIFMAGAZINE by clicking on the button below.
My lunch-mat!
So… I was really hoping that I could get the design I wanted (since its random) but well… you know how these things goes. I wasn’t really expecting much but when I flipped it over (they give it to you face-down, together with your order) ….
OMG! I got the design I was hoping for. I was so happy that I might have let out a teeny, weeny squeal of delight. Just a tiny one. ^ ^
I wasn’t sure if it was because one of the staff saw me being all excited over Sabito’s file over at the merchandise corner (while waiting for my first orders to be served) that she very nicely gave me his lunch-mat/place-mat for the dessert I ordered. And you know, the whole tourist vibe. If so, thank you so much! <3
After realizing that the coasters were not random, I quickly ordered Sabito’s drink as well.
Sabito (錆兎) really left a deep impression on me. He was one of those characters that I took an instant liking to, despite not knowing much about him when he first appeared. As the story progressed and we learnt about just how strong, selfless and kind he was, it further cemented my fondness for him, as well as feeling more than a little wistful about his fate. (No spoilers, so I won’t go into the details.)
Say it together with me: 進め!男なら!
For an AWESOME free GIF of Sabito by Kimetsu no Yaiba x GIFMAGAZINE, click the button below.
I really hope we get an extra or something to expand a little about his story because he’s really worth it. (Even Giyu thinks so!) I was slightly disappointed that there wasn’t an acrylic stand of Sabito but seeing he isn’t a main character, it is understandable but hey, one can still hope, no?
Sabito’s drink was a mixture of passion fruit syrup +cranberry syrup + carbonated (soda) water.
The pinkish hue of the drink was a homage/reference to Sabito’s hair colour (pink). The taste of the carbonated water fits the strong image of Sabito.
KIMETSU NO YAIBA UFOTABLE CAFE GOODS
Update 2020: For a list of Kimetsu no Yaiba ufotable cafe theme campaign goods, visit the url: http://www.ufotable.com/cafe/kimetsu_cafe/goods_on.html
(Note: The 2019 Cafe Collaboration goods page has been removed by ufotable.)
**For those interested in getting your hands on the Tanjiro and Nezuko nendoroids, check out my post: “Where to buy or pre-order the Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Nendoroids” for more information.
As with all anime cafes, there will always be exclusive merchandises for the fans to buy. Alas, by the time I visited, quite a few items/designs were sold out. Case in point:
I really really wanted these badges but they were ALL sold out. TT Thankfully, the acrylic stands and the Sabito lunch-mat holder (it’s basically a large size file folder) were still available so I grabbed those. Exercising restraint (for me that is), I only bought 2 acrylic stands (Tanjirou & Giyu) and a lunch-mat holder.
August 2020 UPDATE: You can pre-order/buy some of the cafe exclusive goods on their webstore: Here’s the updated link to the webstore (click on the “webstore”)
With the webstore, the acrylic mask badges are now on my wish-list! Hopefully, I can add it to my small collection of Demon Slayer goods! The mask badges are no longer on sale BUT I managed to buy them last year! ^ ^
Do note that for the ufotable webstore, they currently do not ship overseas. A workaround is to get a forwarder and/or buying service. You can learn more about these services in my guide: Geeky Goods Spotlight: Forwarder, Buying Service & Proxy Bidding (Anime Goods)
Have you been buying any Kimetsu no Yaiba anime goods? You might like to check out my latest post: My Kimetsu no Yaiba Goods Recommendations and Wish-Lists Part II for some inspiration!
Clear Files
**Click on the photos above for a larger view.
I was really tempted to get some of the files but seeing how I have more than 100 pieces of anime file folders unused and unopened at home, I just couldn’t. As the anime series progresses, there should be new file designs for each subsequent new part of the Kimetsu no Yaiba cafe campaign.
Notebooks
Notebooks at 400 yen each. Photo taken from Ufotable Café official website. Episode 4 Episode 3 Episode 1
**Click on the photos above for a larger view.
The notebooks were equally tempting. I really liked the material they used. I have to say, overall, I do think the merchandises of ufotable cafe are quite reasonably priced and the quality is pretty nice. Kudos.
Lunch-mats, Acrylic Stands and Badges
Lunch-mat cases/holders at 500 yen each. Photo taken from Ufotable Cafe official website. 鬼滅の刃 ufotable cafe merchandise corner The badges were sold out too. 鬼滅の刃 acrylic stands
**Click on the photos above for a larger view.
The lunch-mat cases/holder were all sold out by the time I visited the cafe. That’s how popular they are! As with the clear files, there will be new designs of the lunch-mat cases with each new “part” of the cafe campaign.
KIMETSU NO YAIBA CAFE DECOR
Here are some random photos I took around the cafe:
There was actually a large projector screen on the wall that was looping highlights of the first 5 episodes of the anime. However, as the staff had politely told me that the anything on screen and with the no photography sign can’t be photographed, I couldn’t take photos of it.
The large Tanjirou and Nezuko card-board next to the TV screen, however, can be photographed, along with the large-sized banner of it.
Behind this wall was an area that couldn’t be photographed. It was a mini exhibition area that displayed some character sheets/sketches of the anime.
I was really tempted to get the acrylic stands for the whole team but I resisted…so here’s a photo for keepsakes instead.
We need a copy of this! Demon Slayer Times?? This is a really large wall poster of the team! A cut-out of the main character faces was plastered on the shelves of the merchandise corner

NEW: Kimetsu no Yaiba Character Emaki Cafe
Great news for us Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba fans! Ufotable has announced that there will be a new thematic collaboration cafe starting from 7 January 2020! (This is an ongoing cafe collaboration with different themes across different months )
「鬼滅の刃」 -キャラクター絵巻カフェ-
Loosely translated as the Character Picture Scroll Cafe, this collaboration will now focus on “individual Demon Slayer Kimetsu no Yaiba characters” . There will be a total of 23 characters featured across 6 thematic specials ( 全六期 ) ! More details will be revealed in the latter half of January 2020. Hopefully I’ll get to visit it and share it with all of you here at Geeky Travels and Fandoms. ٩(◕‿◕。)۶
As of now, what we know is that each theme will feature specific characters and the cafe will display original character sheets/sketches of the anime. And new exclusive goods as well!! I’m so looking forward to the new goods, are you? ^ ^
The first theme for the upcoming cafe will feature Tanjiro, Nezuko, Sanemi (Wind Pillar) and Tokito (Mist Pillar). (炭治郎, 禰豆子, 不死川実弥, 時透 無一郎).
You will need to ballot/reserve for tickets via LivePocket for most of the ufotable branches. You don’t need to have a reservation to buy goods BUT priority is given to the diners.
The new collaboration looks exciting and I can’t wait to see what they plan to do with the Pillars in the cafe!
Update August 2020: There are new temporary rules for the purchasing of goods and dining at the cafe. Check out the section on “Cafe Rules”.
Let me know in the comments if you are planning to visit the cafe! 🙂 Stay tune for updates or you know… subscribe to my blog. ^ ^
For more information about the new collaboration themes, please visit: http://www.ufotable.com/cafe/kimetsu_cafe/index.html There is a new dedicated website for this collaboration! ٩(◕‿◕。)۶
KIMETSU NO YAIBA CAFE RULES
As with every anime cafe, there are some rules which customers need to abide to. Every customer needs to order at least one item from the menu. There are other rules as well:
August 2020 Update:
– Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka branches requires a ticket reservation via Livepocket (i.e. no Walk-ins)
– Tokushima and Kitakyushu branches are free to walk-in.
– Cafes will NOT be operating at full capacity. Only half the seats/tables will be available.
*Check out the reservation section for more information.
– Special new rules for purchasing of cafe goods at selected branches.
Side-note: Generally anime cafes in Tokyo tends to have more rules than other branches across Japan. Tokyo’s anime cafes typically are more crowded with higher foot traffic than the other prefectures and cities. To allow more fans to be able to visit the cafe and buy goods, such rules are necessary.
A) Buying Goods
- For exchanges of defected and/or damaged goods bought at the cafe, please do so on the same day of purchase.
- Additional new temporary rules for buying of goods at the cafe: http://www.ufotable.com/release/release_0526_tokyo.html
B) Ufotable Cafe Membership Point Card
You can apply for a membership card for 306 yen. Every purchase/payment earns you a 5% rebate in the form of points. 1 point = 1 yen.
The accumulated points can be used to offset your next visit purchases and/or exchange the points for special prizes. For more information on the type of prizes you can exchange for: http://www.ufotable.com/pointcard/index.html
There are various designs you can choose for the card. Here’s mine. 🙂
At the time of my visit, most of the designs were out of stock in the Osaka branch. I just went with what’s available. I was fortunate that the Tales series was still available. 🙂
For the full list of card designs (including Kimetsu no Yaiba): http://www.ufotable.com/pointcard/cardimgae/index.html
C) Special rules for the Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya branch of Kimetsu no Yaiba ufotable Cafe
So somewhat at the top of this very long post, I mentioned that I was deciding between the Osaka & Tokyo branches for the 鬼滅の刃 x ufotable cafe campaign. I eventually settled for Osaka due to me thinking it was easier to find and because Osaka’s branch did not have a full-day ticketed system/walk-ins are fine.
November 2019 UPDATE: With the explosion in popularity of the anime, it seems that ufotable cafe has decided to implement a reservation system on certain days across all its cafe.
New rules have been announced due to the 2020 global pandemic situation.
- Tokyo, Osaka and the Nagoya branches now implement a full day ticketed system where advanced reservation is required.
Numbered tickets will be issued if there is a crowd- 90 minute time limit per visit
- Time restrictions for buying merchandise
- For advance reservations, you are required to do a reservation booking via livepocket.(I have used livepocket in Japan before. Non Japanese can use it and it is quite user-friendly.)
You can refer to the full list of rules and available time slots for the Tokyo Branch here: http://ufotable.com/release/release_0526_tokyo.html
Reading the Tokyo rules, I believe that walk-ins are possible but the staff will give priority to those who had collected a physical ticket at the cafe. (Perhaps someone who’ve been to the Tokyo cafe can share more?)
D) Rules Applicable to Ufotable Cafe Tokyo and マチ★アソビ CAFE Tokyo
IMPORTANT: Ufotable actually has 3 Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba collaboration cafes in Tokyo itself. The information in this post is applicable to the ufotable cafe Tokyo and マチ★アソビ CAFE Tokyo. These two cafes are basically located at the same address, just different floors in the same building.
The 3rd collaboration cafe is ufotable Dining located at Shinjuku. This cafe practices a different system from the other 2 cafes. It basically uses a lottery reservation system (similar to Animate Cafes).
OMG! This is so complicated. Should I do a separate post on ufotable cafes?
MY LOOT
Overall, I had a pretty fun time at the cafe. This was my first visit to the Ufotable cafe and I hope there will be many more visits to come.
If you are interested to find out what my planned Kimetsu no Yaiba goods purchases are, check out my post: My Demon Slayer Goods Recommendations and Wish-Lists II !

wait so is it a reservation system in tokyo? or can walk ins get in it as well??? please answer hhh im lowkey kinda desperate, your website amazing as fuc
Hi Chio, thank you for the compliment on my website! 🙂 Your question came pretty timely as I was actually updating the cafe rules information. As for your question, ufotable cafe Tokyo does not really have a reservation system. (It’s different from Animate Cafes). However, for certain special events, they might implement a temporary lottery reservation system (抽選予約制) on certain days.
What this means is that generally, the ufotable cafe practices a “整理券” system, which means they hand out “tickets” to customers at their cafe on a first come first serve basis. You have to physically head down to the cafe and take a ticket from them. Think of it like you weent to a restaurant and if it is full, they will hand out a ticket for you to wait. If its empty, they probably will let you in but you need to adhere to their scheduled time-slots.
Do take note of the scheduled time-slots at the Tokyo cafe. You can check out the “queue” situation via their twitter account. They will hand out numbered tickets if there is a lot of people waiting at the cafe.
When will you be going to the cafe? If it’s between 21 September to 29 September, the 整理券 system is not applicable. Instead they are implementing the lottery reservation system (抽選予約制). It’s always best too check their twitter to see which system is in place on the dates you want to go.
Hope this helps! If you need more help, feel free to ask. ^ ^ I hope you manage to go to the cafe. It’s always fun to go for an anime-themed cafe.
Just to clarify, are you asking about the ufotable cafe Tokyo @ Nakano or the ufotable dining collab at Shinjuku? Because the Shinjuku one is a different collab cafe (from the one I went to ) and has a reservation system. The info in my post and my previous reply to you is applicable for the ufotable cafe Tokyo @ Nakano.
I’m planning to go to the Nakano one at the 24th but I just wanted to go there for the goods (?) do we have to make a reservation to go in the cafe just to buy the goods ?? Is there another cafe, I could go to perhaps (?) my friend said that the one in Nakano didn’t have mucH goods left or the files(?) buT I also wanted to try out their food as well but I didn’t win the reservation lottery ticket for the cafe so, is there another way maybe (?), thank you for replying so quickly I didn’t expect you to reply but thank you very much, your reply means a lot TvT!!!
For the buying of goods only, you don’t need a reservation. You can show up and tell them you just want to buy the goods and wait for them to guide you in. Priority will be given to those who has reservations/taken the queue ticket to dine at the cafe so you might need to wait a while. Are you going on 24th September? I did a check for you and I think it is closed on that day. Check their twitter for the dates they are closed. For 21 September to 29 September though, the cafe will only be accessible for those who have reservations. So you might not be able to enter to buy goods only.
Yes, most of the goods are sold out at the cafes. However, they are accepting pre-orders at the cafe in which they will ship out the products later to you in Japan. If you are still in Japan then, you can try this option. Alternatively, you can go to the Shinjuku ufotable Dining cafe. (The buying of goods there also doesn’t need reservation BUT you can’t play the kuji as its for reservations only.) Most of the goods sold there are the same as the ufotable cafes. It should be open on 24 September. I’ve posted the URL of the ufotable dining website in the post so you can check it out. The third option for the cafe exclusive goods is that they are selling it on their official webstore on 1 October 2019, from 3pm (Japan time) onwards, so you can try ordering your goods online. Hope this helps!
Hello! Thank you so much for the very informative post! I just applied for the xmas event lottery! Hopefully me and my friends will be granted entry. May I know if I can buy the meechandises as soon as I am seated? Or do I have to wait for some notification from the staff fhat am allowed to go look? Might sound ridiculous but it’s my first time going to a theme cafe so am not sure how it works. 😂
Alas, we didn’t win. 😭😭😭 oh wells… are we still able to go and purchase the goods from the store in shinjuku though?
I did a quick check for you on the ufotable dining (shinjuku) website and it says that you can just pop in to buy the merchandises. Priority would be given to those with reservations. The special kuji is also only reserved for diners with reservations. Do drop by the Jump Shop when you are in Japan too, they have a lot of Kimetsu no Yaiba merchandises as well. If you are in Japan end January 2020 to March 2020, sweets paradise is having a collaboration with Kimetsu no Yaiba so that’s another themed cafe collaboration you can consider. I do hope you’ll get to check out an (anime) themed cafe in Japan when you are there! It’s really fun and I always encourage fans to do so if they can. Feel free to check out some of my other posts for information. 🙂
Hi Chowderfull, thanks for the kind words! I’m happy to know that you found my post useful. Awww.. sorry to hear you didn’t get the lottery reservation but don’t give up. My advice is to keep a look out on their official twitter account for the next few weeks up to your travel dates. There might be cancellations so ufotable might release these cancelled tickets for new lottery balloting. (It has happened in the previous few events.) As for your question on merchandise, it differs from themed cafe to cafe but for cafes like ufotable and animate, you generally place your (first) food/drink orders first before you buy the merchandises. And it’s definitely not a ridiculous question ^ ^, I have been to other theme cafes where they called out your number to buy goods and/or you have to buy your merchandises together with your orders so it really differs from cafe to cafe. Hope this helps!
Hi, thank you so much for this post. I’ve been researching for my trip next year and your post was the most helpful with everything about the ufotable cafes 😭😭 I was also wondering if you would consider making another post about the different demon slayer themed cafes in Tokyo (as you mentioned there were three)? I wanted to know how different each is to another, and what your experience was with all three (if you got to visit all three)!
Hi Byuq! Happy to know that you found the information in my post useful! ^ ^ Thanks for taking the time to comment to let me know! It is always nice to know that my experiences are of help to other fans. I had planned to do a post on the Shinjuku ufotable Dining cafe after I had visited it. Unfortunately, the current global situation in 2020 meant I couldn’t visit the cafe in 2020 so I’m likely to only do up a post after I have visited it. (That’s the one I didn’t visit yet). Alternatively, feel free to send me questions you might have for the Ufotable cafes (or other anime cafes because you shouldn’t limit yourself to just 1 anime cafe! 🙂 ), I will try my best to share some information and tips. Generally, the key difference is the menu, the novelty goods and the reservation system for the different ufotable cafes. As Demon Slayer is really popular, there will likely be other cafe collaborations with it as well. Hope you have a great trip to Japan next year!! 🙂
Thank you so much for the reply back. I reread your post again thoroughly and I think I understand a little better about all the ufotable cafes 😂 I just wanted to ask another question regarding the tokyo ufotable cafes~ on the condition that covid regulations will not be implemented by the time I visit, are walk ins usually accepted for the ufotable cafe and マチ★アソビ cafe? And regarding the difference in each cafes, I wanted to ask if they usually set different collabs for the ufotable cafe and マチ★アソビ cafe~ 😊
Hi Byuq, back then walk-ins were acceptable at selected ufotable cafes but generally it was recommended that you make a reservation first because walk-ins usually end up being turned away or you have to wait a long while or you have to show up at a certain time (usually early morning) to get “tickets”. However, it is very likely that moving forward, all ufotable cafes will continue on the reservation route. Having gone to quite a few anime cafes, I really recommend you to do a reservation. I’ve seen quite a number of tourists/travelers being turned away because they didn’t have reservations or the cafe was full. The reservation system for Ufotable cafes are pretty user-friendly to non-Japanese, so no worries on that. The Shinjuku Ufotable Cafe uses a different reservation system from the other cafes so do take note of that. As for your question on ufotable cafe and マチ★アソビ cafe, yes they do run different collaborations for their studio’s anime. For Demon Slayer, however, there should be no difference between the two. More often than not, they share the same physical space. (The Shinjuku dining cafe will have a different menu and novelty goods from the main ufotable cafes) I think they have recently rebranded the Tokyo Branch to just reflect it as ufotable cafe so it is less confusing. ufotable Cafe itself runs different monthly themes on Demon Slayer so always watch out for their twitter and/or website to see what the current theme is. There will also be other anime cafes that might run collaborations with Demon Slayer so do check those out too. Hope this helps! 🙂
wait so is it a reservation system in tokyo?
Hi. Yes, until otherwise announced, the cafe in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka are all currently a ballot reservation system. You would need to ballot for a reservation slot via the livepocket platform. The ufotable cafes in the other cities/prefectures are free entry.
Hope this helps
